OptIN: A Campaign Designed to Inform
OptIN was designed to gain the audience’s attention about issues in this province and educate them so that they are confident in casting a vote that is informed and that aligns with their personal opinions. The more informed they are, the more comfortable they will be with casting a vote. The idea was to create an interactive and fun way to display the information about any issue or political group that users may be curious about. The app takes the user through either “Issues” or “Parties”. The former leading through a quiz that asks your opinion about various issues. The latter allows the user to navigate through the different parties at their leisure.
Marketing was a big piece of this project. Getting people to care enough to actually use the app was one of the challenges I faced in creating optIN. I used flowcharts in the form of public transit signage, along with a guerilla-style painted format for public spaces that the viewer would be able to physically follow.
Bus shelters and shareable online content in the form of a gif was also created to get the users more involved.
